Adolescent’s now face more stressors than ever before. Factors such as social media, extended electronic time, school related stressors, family stressors and ongoing societal issues contribute to this stress leading to an increase in depression and anxiety. Adolescence is a time in development where autonomy and independence is a desire and often need.
Adolescents often benefit from outside neutral and objective support to process life challenges, affirm self-identity and gain skills to cope with stressors. CBT, relaxation training, nervous system regulation, behavioral activation and supportive-based talk therapy are all treatment methods used to support adolescents to become the main character in their stories. I have a specialty in the treatment of trauma, anxiety, school, and family-related stress, and depression.
