Family Therapy

Families are complex emotional systems with many moving parts.  Although conflict in families is expected, there are times when families get stuck in unhealthy patterns that create stress. Family therapy allows family members to unite and find ways to disrupt unhelpful patterns that bring pain.  Family therapy can improve communication and problem-solving while building empathy, understanding and trust for one another.  Families often report more joy and cohesion following family therapy treatment.

Reunification family therapy refers to specialized family therapy that occurs when a disruption in a relationship, often between parent and child, has occurred.  Reunification family therapy is a carefully thought out approach to ensure all members are feeling safe, heard and believe their needs are being respected. Reunification family therapy often involves individuals outside of family involvement including courts, social workers and Guardian Ad Litems.  As such, I work to communicate consistently with these various systems and advocate as needed.
